Dunwoody Police Draw Guns On Uncooperative Suspect

UPDATED

Two Dunwoody Police officers had guns drawn on a shoplifting suspect on a Perimeter Center West sidewalk, just after 7 p.m., Thursday.

The incident drew at least eight police cars to the scene.

According to Dunwoody Police spokesman Officer Tim Fecht, the suspect would not comply with the officers' verbal commands at first and continually stuck his hand in his pocket after officers told him not to do so.

Because the suspect continued his noncompliance of the officers' commands, one officer pulled out a taser. The suspect then began to get on the ground, but still continued resisting arrest.

After the suspect was handcuffed and taken away, Officer Dale Laskowski told Patch that the man was suspected of shoplifting at the nearby Target and was being uncooperative.

A duffle bag of merchandise was lying on the ground.

Fecht said officers must always be aware and prepared when dealing with any suspect. "We never know if they're on medications or drugs or what their intentions are."

The man was arrested on charges of shoplifting, obstruction and possession of marijuana, Fecht told Patch.
