ReplyVery well said George. Cheryl, I have not attacked you personally or assassanated your character, just your comments and very public attacks, rather rants and suicide missions at this point. You, all yourself responsible for your reputation in the community. Ignore what you want but reputations can be ruined when the ends justify the means. The concept of you, master of the mud sling then block and delete, taking the high road and discussing real issues is rather funny.

Cheryl: It must have really been confusing when you read your link..."Karen Carter is a resident of Lakeside Community". So much for the your belief and divisive comments we are nothing but "a school". I hope you will agree, the "us" v/s "them" thinking of the old BOE/ DeKalb needs to stop. And as a good parent you probably agree, change begins at home. Please stop with the pretend valueless scorecard, writing nasty letters to neighbors and the public divisive rants full of propaganda if not for your child for the sake of the "children".

Cheryl Miller: Yes that is me! and what a great first step of hopefully many more steps in the right direction. Yes, hate and paranoia. But YOU said, "Now I am crazy" not me. But now that you said it....well perhaps that is worth some consideration, but please don't put words in my mouth. I said we always look for signs of "crazy neighbors" and perhaps your...well, you can reread it yourself.
Our family chooses to pay the premium for a premium or selective product or service because it has value to us. It happens all the time, every day in America. My neighborhood is more than just the hhahaah "free" public school and we believe our home is a good investment and quality real estate. If you think it is overpriced then purchase somewhere else and gloat in the stupidity of everyone else. Check back with me in 10 years and we will compare results!

ReplyIn my opinion Tom, geographic location w/r to a major roadway is about all Vienna and Tucker share. I am sure Tucker and Vienna are both happy about that!
Did you know the State of Virginia requires every school in Virginia to be accredited and has standards with ummm... sharp, strong teeth. In my opinion, it is time and money well spent. http://www.doe.virginia.gov/boe/accreditation/
Virginia is diverse and big too but all her children are offered a quality public or private education. It simply does not matter who is, who has moved into or where the school system is located. I received the same education as my husband. I was born outside Charlottesville and my husband a born the same year across the mountains and the Chesapeake Bay on the Eastern Shore of Virginia. We met when my husband was in graduate school at the University of Richmond. Yes, we have done DC. If you are a Virginia educator (2 of my 5 siblings are), there simply is not enough time in the day for friends, family or excuses. Your doors close if you don't preform! The City of Richmond is still pretty "rough"as it was when I lived in the Fan District. Virginia has areas of "affordable housing" and "overwhelming immigration" today too but every child is offered and if they choose receives a solid education, which is just not happening here in some, if not many neighborhoods in Atlanta, GA based on scores published by GaDOE. In my opinion, THIS is something worth studying and doing.

ReplyTom Doolittle, as a transplant from Virginia we purchased our home in the Lakeside area about 2005 because of the location, schools and neighborhood. Our neighborhood is very convenient. It is really is hard to get any easier than between I85 and 285 but now that we know all the back roads we are amazed. We live on a nice big lot inside the perimeter of such an active big city. We purchased our home not knowing Lakeside High School was once a great school and now was the unwanted, over achieving step child of Crawford Lewis. We are also so very close to a better choice, Saint Pius X and we were very lucky to be accepted. After we "figured things out" we stayed because we love the school, the neighborhood, the location and believe/pray help is on the way for Lakeside High School. We believe living in the Lakeside areais very desirable and has a lot of options for residents. We believe for those reasons our home is one of the few "lucky" areas in Atlanta that has not lost a lot of value. I disagree that Cheryl is "hammering for candor and introspection" and suggest she is looking not for answers but someone or group to blame and to get attention in the form of public rants.

Here is the truth for you: “Radio frequency emissions from antennas used for cellular and PCS [personal communications service] transmissions result in exposure levels on the ground that are typically thousands of times below safety limits. These safety limits were adopted by the FCC based on the recommendations of expert organizations and endorsed by agencies of the Federal Government responsible for health and safety. Therefore, there is no reason to believe that such towers could constitute a potential health hazard to nearby residents or students.” http://www.cancer.org/cancer/cancercauses/othercarcinogens/athome/cellular-phone-towers
The rest is hate, paranoia and now "TruthWill..." throws in racism as a last resort. The rants are not working and I don't think you are fooling many people anymore. The silver lining in these blogs is that you have been challenged. I don't think you have the support to stop anything now. That is why your delete and block STFL was not recognized by in the community meeting and you are no longer a member of TTT.
