Trial begins for the man accused of gunning down Russell Sneiderman outside Dunwoody Prep
Opening statements in the murder trial of Hemy Neuman are scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday in a DeKalb County courtroom. Last week, jury selection was completed in the highly anticipated trial. The make up of the jury is 12 women and four men. Neuman is facing murder charges related to the Nov. 18, 2010 killing of Russell “Rusty” Sneiderman, 36. Sneiderman was gunned down outside of Dunwoody Prep, a local pre-school, after he dropped off his then 2-year-old son. He has entered a plea of insanity. One of the first legal issues to be tackled in the case looks to be a discussion of Neuman’s mental state. Thursday, attorneys talked about a motion filed by the defense to suppress any discussion of Neuman’s delusional issues. The defense …

Thursday morning, a hearing was held in the separation case between Hemy Neuman, the man acussed of killing a Dunwoody father outside of a daycare, and his estranged wife, Ariella Neuman, according to a report from the Atlanta Journal Constitution. The AJC reports that during the hearing at Fulton County Court, the attorney for Andrea Sneiderman said his client wants to see Mr. Neuman held responsible for murdering her husband, Russell 'Rusty' Sneiderman. "No one on this earth wants [Neuman] convicted more than my client," said attorney Seth Kirschenbaum, according to the AJC story. You can read the full story here. Earlier this month, Hemy Neuman pleaded 'not guilty' to charges stemming from murder of Russell ‘Rusty’ Sneiderman, the man Neuman is accused of shooting outside of a Dunwoody day care. In that same hearing, Neuman’s attorney asked for an extension on the normal 10 days that are normally given to file pre-trial motions. Douglas Peters asked that the court grant a longer period in which the file the motions, as there are more than 6,200 pages of discovery or evidence to read through. Judge Gregory Adams granted the extension, giving the defense 30 days to make their pre-trial motions. Adams made clear at the April 4 hearing that he does not like letting cases drag on in court. Hemy Neuman pleaded not guilty Monday to charges of murder and possession of firearm in the commission of a felony. Neuman, 48, of East Cobb, is accused shooting Russell ‘Rusty’ Sneiderman 36, on Nov. 18 outside of Dunwoody Prep, a daycare in Dunwoody Village. Sneiderman had just dropped off one of his children at the school when he was shot multiple times at close range by his assailant. Neuman was arraigned in DeKalb County Superior Court Monday morning in front of Judge Gregory Adams. His attorney, Douglas Peters, pleaded not guilty to the charges on Neuman’s behalf. A new court filing gives a glimpse into how the Dunwoody Police Department and other agencies built their case against Hemy Neuman, the man accused of killing Rusty Sneiderman last November. An index of the state's evidence shows how police connected the dots between Neuman and the silver Kia Sedona van seen fleeing the scene of the murder. Evidence also includes a sales document for a Bersa .40 handgun, bought in April 2010, and a sign-in sheet from a Woodstock shooting range with Neuman’s name on it, dated Nov. 1, 17 days before the shooting. The index of the state’s evidence includes nearly 200 items cataloged across more than 3,200 pages and 49 electronic records. The index is included in the state's motion for discovery, whereby the …

The wife of a man charged with gunning down Russell Sneiderman in front of a Dunwoody day care center has filed court papers asking for information about the relationship between Sneiderman's widow and the suspect. The attorney for Ariella Neuman, the estranged wife of Hemy Neuman, is also asking for the opportunity to take sworn statements from both the suspect and Andrea Sneiderman, the wife of the victim.
