Nearby Sandy Springs: After the female HERO driver spotted a car whose driver she thought might need assistance, Alpharetta police found the man had an apparent gunshot wound.
A Georgia HERO driver on patrol on Ga. 400 northbound in Alpharetta spotted what she thought might be a stranded motorist at the Kimball Bridge Road overpass at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. But what she discovered when she stopped to offer help was a man who had died from an apparent gunshot wound was in the car. The Alpharetta Department of Public Safety is investigating the incident, said spokesman George Gordon via email. The female HERO driver saw the vehicle parked on the right shoulder of Ga. 400 at the overpass. "She approached the vehicle wanting to determine if she came across a stranded motorist," Gordon said.
