Newly opened department store in Perimeter Mall became victim to a suspected thief who was also carrying something, police say.
An Atlanta man was arrested Wednesday night at the new Von Maur in Perimeter Mall for suspicion of shoplifting a $54 scarf. The arrest ended up being bigger than that. When the man was searched by Dunwoody PD, the man was found to possess two bags of heroin and several syringes on him. The man was charged with suspicion of possession of the controlled substances as well as the the attempted stolen scarf.
Designer events, live music and Miss USA will all be at the store for its grand opening at Perimeter Mall.

Von Maur, the upscale department store anchor that's been under construction at Perimeter Mall for a long time will open Saturday with a bunch of special treats and events for its grand opening. The Davenport-Iowa-based store is compared by customers to places like Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's in that it carries similar brands and is known for good customer service. The store has spread over the Midwest but has made a push into the south. A store has already opened in Alpharetta.
