Designer events, live music and Miss USA will all be at the store for its grand opening at Perimeter Mall.
Just in time for the shopping season. Von Maur, the upscale department store anchor that's been under construction at Perimeter Mall for a long time will open Saturday with a bunch of special treats and events for its grand opening. The Davenport-Iowa-based store is compared by customers to places like Nordstrom and Bloomingdale's in that it carries similar brands and is known for good customer service. The store has spread over the Midwest but has made a push into the south. A store has already opened in Alpharetta. Von Maur is known in the retail business for its no-interest credit card, free shipping and gift wrapping. Enough of the business. For the grand opening, the store is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and features live …

Hmm. This is an interesting piece from tonetoatl.com. We’ve reported that Chick-fil-A had been wanting to move into the former Arby’s after losing a very public fight awhile back to occupy the old Blockbuster Video store (now being renovated for another business.) Seems it’s a Chick-fil-A, but only kinda. The author reports “only original chicken sandwiches or #1 combos and fudge brownies from 10:30am-8pm.” From the blog: From what I understand, the plan is to remain open in the space with a limited menu, exclusively via the drive-thru, until this Saturday, and possibly next week as well. After this very limited "trial" period, the restaurant will close and be retrofitted to become a full service Chick-fil-A restaurant. A Chick-fil-A …

The iconic coffee purveyor plans to serve up those Vanilla Lattes (half caf, skim milk) when opening in October.
Wednesday, October 24, 2012
Those looking for a familiar jolt of a Vanilla Latte or a Cafe Misto - known everywhere else as a Cafe au Lait - can get their fix within the month at the under-construction Starbucks at Ravinia near Ashford Dunwoody Road.
What's your favorite Starbucks caffeine delivery system? Chai Tea Latte? With ice on a warm day? Or a dark roasted Cafe Au Lait - the old Parisian standby that's perfect for a crisp fall day in the U.S.? Or do you like the ones with whippped cream on top and so many calories I don't bother to count or learn their names? OK, now I'm being snooty. And - to boot - I want a premium coffee. Some good news. Soon you'll be able to get your cup of joe across Ashford Dunwoody Road from Perimeter Mall. A Starbucks, as you can see in the photos, is going up by the minute. As you read this, they are tarring over the plywood on the frame of the building. Digging out areas for plumbing. You know, all that construction stuff. Warning, as you can see in …

The British pub has an upscale feel, a varied menu and plenty of imported beers.
The Dunwoody Resturant Group cut the ribbon today on its latest British-style pub. The tavern's owner, Huw Thomas, owns and operates the popular Dunwoody Tavern in Dunwoody Village, as well as others in his restaurant group. The pub is located on 2486 Mt. Vernon Road Suite A and has the dark-wood ambience and upscale feel of a classic pub. It's got a Tartan topped bar with a variety of imported beers. The owner says the name of the bar and the Welsh flag incorporated into its logo is a nod to his father and mentor, Brian Thomas, who recently passed. Thomas says the restaurant is set up for groups of up to 100, corporate-get togethers and family reunions. The new establishment is drawing some positive reviews on Yelp. Below is a sampling: "…

Another Broken Egg Cafe is opening their second Atlanta-area restaurant in Dunwoody's Perimeter Village. The Destin, Florida-based restaurant is headed to the corner space where Border's books used to be in the shopping center, adjacent to the recently announced Uncle Maddio's Pizza Joint, according to the popular real estate and restaurant blog Tommorow's News Today. The news is confirmed on the Double R Restaurant Group site - the group lists the Dunwoody location as coming soon. They own franchises already in Raleigh, N.C., Durham, N.C., Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Charleston, S.C. and Baton Rouge, La. Another Broken Egg already has a location in Buckhead at Peachtree Battle, although the franchise's owners are different. Construction and …

I can't wait until they open for good. It's so nice to have a food establishment that appreciates its customers and responds ALWAYS with "my pleasure".   more ›
