Did you know you could support Dunwoody High School by with the purchase you make at Target? Dunwoody PTSO members have been publicizing the unique program. Here's how it works. Enroll for a Target REDcard. Recieve it and do your shoppng. The cardholder receives 5 percent cashback on all in-store and onine purchases and Target donates 1 percent to DHS. You can sign up at the local Target or do it online or call 1-800-316-6142. The program is called "Take Charge Of Education." You need to select Dunwoody High School as the recipient. In September, the school recived $1,000 from the program. The check could be bigger for December purchases considering the holiday shopping. Dunwoody Wildcats struggle in a 1-win season, this week they suffered a blowout to Arabia Mountain High School. MLK JR. and Tucker for Region title.
The Martin Luther King Jr. Lions stopped the Tucker Tigers on a fourth and seven play with 4:37 to play in the game on the way to a 24-17 win to capture the Region 6-AAAAA title. The No. 2 ranked Lions remain undefeated at 9-0 overall and 8-0 in region play while the No. 5 ranked Tigers fell to 7-2 overall and 6-2 in the region. Monquavious Johnson had three touchdown passes as the Lions built a 24-10 lead with 3:18 to play in the third quarter. He connected with Marquis Polite-Bray for 42 yards in the second quarter and on a four-yard pass with 8:06 to play in the third. The Dunwoody High School Wildcats fell 6-0 Thursday night to the powerhouse M.L. Kings Lions from Lithonia, according to MAXPreps. The loss wasn't pretty for the winless Wildcats. The league test saw MLK fans leaving the contest early in the 40-17 victory in a league contest, which was away from Dunwoody's home stadium. M.L. King improves to an undefeated 6-0 in its 2012 campaign, according to the report. The Lions will host Lakeside for the AAAAA Region 6 contest, according to the report. Lakeside has a record of 1-5. The Wildcats travel to Mays to battle the Raiders Friday on Oct. 19.

Dunwoody joins two other teams from county in Class AAAA tournament

The Dunwoody girls' soccer team wil visit Pope High School Wednesday in the Class AAAA state playoffs. Dunwoody joins the other two girls' soccer teams from the county in the playoff action. Chamblee and Lakeside high schools are also gunning for a title. Dunwoody will take its 11-7-0 record up against Pope's 17-1-0 record. The start time is 5:55 p.m. The Lady Wildcats are led by junior forward Emily Strahan who has scored 25 goals this season, which ties her for third in the county in scoring. Avery Wood is also a statistical leader with 15 assists. Senior goaltender Megan Grove is sixth in the county in goals allowed with 2.39.

The Dunwoody baseball team capped off another week of strong play, finishing last week with a 10-5 record and 7-1 in region play. The Wildcat baseball team’s week started Monday with an away game at Tucker High School. Dunwoody continued with a trend that is becoming a calling card for the team: hot bats. Dunwoody would beat Tucker 11-0. In the first inning, the offense started with Jerric Johnson reaching base on an error. Charlie Madden then registered a double. Jared Martin walked to load the bases. Two sacrifice fly balls scored two runners, and an error by Tucker scored another runner.
