Dunwoody police are investigating a serious accident that occurred early Sunday morning that has left two victims on ventilators. The accident occurred around 2:15 on Feb. 24 at I-285 and Chamblee Dunwoody Road, when a Chevy Tahoe struck a Mercury Grand Marquis. Police said the Tahoe's driver, Francisco Rodriguez-Vazquez, fled the scene on foot after the crash but was located in the immediate area by police shortly after the collision. Polcie said both the driver and a passenger in the Mercury were injured in the crash. Evelyn Ngoboworigha and Stroyer Butler were both taken to the Atlanta Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and are both on ventilators. The suspect is wanted in connection with a Feb. 1 robbery at the Marshalls on Hammond Drive.
Dunwoody Police are looking for a suspect in a Feb. 1, 2013, armed robbery at Marshalls. Police say the suspect robbed the department around 9 pm, brandishing a chrome and black semi-automatic pistol. "The suspect is described as wearing an all-black jogging suit with stripes on the pants and an 'S' on the sweatshirt with a scarf covering most of his face," police said. The suspect is described as a black male, in his late teens to early 20s, between 5’11” and 6’2,” weighing between 200 to 250 pounds. The Rotary Club of Dunwoody has provided $4,500 to the city's police department for its community policing initiatives. The Crier is reporting that the donation came from proceeds raised last October from the RunDunwoody-Rotary Race to Serve. The club also provided $4,140 to DeKalb Fire and Rescue for the purchase of three rescue saws, one for each Dunwoody station. The club also made a $500 donation to the Noble Heroes Foundation to help first responders and their families in the event of a death or severe injury in the line of duty.

A third suspect wanted in connection with the incident is still at large.
Dunwoody Police arrested a second man wanted in connection with the Jan. 7 armed robbery at a local McDonald's. Dejaun Anthony Simmons, 19, was arrested early Wednesday evening, the department said on its Facebook page. A third suspect, not yet identified, is also wanted in connection with the incident. College Park resident Carlin Caleb Tibbs, 19, was arrested on Jan. 11. Dunwoody police have arrested one man in connection with the Jan. 7 armed robbery at a local McDonald's, and they believe his alleged accomplice may be trying to flee to Indiana. College Park resident Carlin Caleb Tibbs, 19, was arrested on Thursday, according to the AJC. The Police Department increased speed patrols in the last week, especially around schools.
Dunwoody Police stepped up speed patrols across the city this week, and the patrolling led to a few arrests for more than just speeding, police reported. The stepped up speed patrols came in response to residents complaining about speed problems in town. Police patrolled the Kingsley subdivision, the stop signs along North Peachtree Road and around Chesnut Elementary School and Dunwoody High School. Speeders were stopped along Womack Road in the afternoon and North Peachtree Road - near Peachtree Middle School - during the morning drop off. At Tilly Mill Road, officers made one stop that resulted in two arrests, according to police. A speed trailer Wednesday at Dunwoody Village Parkway show that 70 percent of motorists speed in the business corridor.
Dunwoody Police are reporting that they have stepped up speed patrols in various areas of the city: Dunwoody Club Drive, Chesnut Elementary School and the Kinglsey neighborhood. The hot spots are areas that residents have complained there are frequent speeders, so police are advising people to watch their speeds all around the city. However, if recent speed trailer results are an indication, people aren't abiding by speed laws in Dunwoody's main business corridor. Police reported the results from a speed trailer that shows motorists how fast they are going and tallies their speed so police can get an idea if the aea is a problem. Dunwoody Police officers response to theft from Publix on Sunday netted three suspects; one wanted for theft and two who was in a car where items were recovered from a Sandy Springs burglary. The call came from a customer at the local Publix who saw the suspects tryng to steal groceries, according to Dunwoody Police. The caller gave a detailed and description of the vehicle and the occupants and the direction of travel. A Dunwoody Police officer pulled the car over as it was headed into Sandy Springs, according to police.
