Each year, the LifeChanger of the Year program recognizes and rewards 10 school district employees and educators who make a positive difference in the lives of students. Mach was nominated by students, fellow district employees, and parents who gave a description of why she has made a positive impact in the lives of students. The grand prize winner will receive a $5,000 personal cash award along with a $5,000 donation to his or her school. Carol Zhou, now a sixth-grade student at Peachtree Charter Middle Schoool, received national recognition for a Coastal America Art Contest, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Her artwork, produced when she was a fifth grader at Dunwoody Elementary School, is a colorful display of underwater life and is reminiscent of a coral reef. The national recognition earned her second place, the report says. She was one a select few picked. Sixteen students from kindergarten to college were recognized for their artwork - themes to reflect "ocean literacy." Zhou was unable to attend a reception in Washington, D.C. Dunwoody High School has a new principal, spots at Vanderlyn Elementary School and Dunwoody Elementary School are filled.
A few key positions have been filled for schools in the Dunwoody area. The Dunwoody High School Council announced Monday that Noel Maloof, the principal of Vanderlyn Elementary School, will take over the top position at Dunwoody High School. Maloof's replacement is set to be Tracey Crenshaw, an assistant principal at Vanderlyn. Also, Jennifer Pittman Sanders is the new Dunwoody Elementary School principal. Rodney Swanson, former principal of Dunwoody High School, was transferred by the district at the end of the school year. Johnathan Clark, the principal at Dunwoody Elementary School, was reassigned last week to McLendon Elementary School.

Parents of students, teachers and staff at Dunwoody Elementary School learned that Johnathan Clark, principal at Dunwoody Elementary School was reassigned earlier this week. Clark has been reassigned to McLendon Elementary School for the upcoming school year, according to a letter sent to parents after the reassignment. McLendon Elementary School, located in Dectaur, lists Llyod McFarlane, as its principal on the school's website. "I have thoroughly enjoyed all three years at DES and the additional six years I have had the opportunity to serve the Dunwoody community," Clark wrote.
