Man had drawn police attention for incidents before, but it escalated Dec. 1.
The man who assualted an off-duty DeKalb police officer at the Brook Run dog park is facing three charges, including a felony obstruction of an officer. David Dawson, who lives in the 4700 block of Layfield Drive in Dunwoody, was involved in a fight that spun out of control Dec. 1. Dawson was charged with aggravated battery, obstruction of an officer and disorderly conduct for hos role in the incident, which started with an argument with a park-goer and ended with Dawson pinning down a DeKalb officer who tried to intervene. Police say it wasn't the first time that Dawson's actions at the park had drawn police attention. It was the first time Dawson had been arrested there.

A Good Samaritan had to stop one of the men from seriously hurting the officer.
Dunwoody Police officers were called to the popular Brook Run Dog Park Saturday after an out-of-control park-goer fought with an off-duty DeKalb police officer who was trying to control the situation, according to police. When police arrived they would arrest a man who assualted an off-duty officer by pinning her to the ground after a fight with another park goer. The incident started when a man, identified as David Dawson by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, was involved in some verbal sparring with another park goer. The fight drew the attention of an off-duty DeKalb police officer who was in the park and tried to calm down the argument. Brook Run Dog Park enjoys the shade of hardwood trees, friendly people and lots of dogs. For some, that's pretty close to as good as it gets. A shady place to get out of the sweltering summer heat, or kick through the fall leaves, exercise your dog and chat with a new friend on one of the park's benches. The other side of the coin, however, is that the dog park is over-loved. Too many animals can hurt the large tree stand there and eventually kill it altogether. The city has budgeted $200,000 in its proposed 2013 spending plan to move the park to another spot in the 100-acre Brook Run Park. Neighbors living near the 4-acre park largely applaud the move - as they are worried that the dog park could pollute West Nancy Creek, increase erosion…
