Response times may have been delayed in the case of a man shot to death by Dunwoody police.
It's too early to tell how much miscommunication was created in the shooting pf a 34-year-old Marietta man in Dunwoody because of the separate roles of DeKalb Fire and Dunwoody Police. Both are operated by two distinct dispatch centers, a division that came about shortly after Bradley Almy was shot. A 911 call that turned tragic in November when a Dunwoody Police officer shot and killed a Marietta man reveals a sometimes chaotic and confusing response by authorities that appeared to delay medical aid. A 40-minute communication between Dunwoody and Chatcomm, its 911 police dispatch service, details a car chase of a recklessly driving Bradley Almy that started in the Ashford Dunwoody-Meadow Lane area during rush-hour traffic. The dispatch call describes the 34-year-old man making erratic driving maneuvers as police tried to respond to various hit-and-run collisions in the heavily populated Perimeter area and stop Almy. Bradley Almy had a run-in with police last summer where he went to jail for evading police and suspicion of DUI.
Cobb County Sheriff's records show that the man who eluded police Wednesday night in Dunwoody was charged with a similar offense this summer that landed him in the Cobb County jail. The 34-year-old Marietta man also has been charged with two DUIs and has three separate incidents of arrest that show he has been booked into the Cobb jail. Bradley Almy was shot and killed Wednesday night by Dunwoody Police Sgt. Jason Dove after he led police on a chase that started at City Hall and ended on Perimeter Center East. Dove shot the man after he rammed cars and continued to try and elude police at the Ashford Dunwoody and Perimeter Center East intersection near Perimeter Mall, according to Dunwoody Police.
