Spruill sale connects artists and community
The gallery's 17th annual holiday market, located in one of the oldest buildings in Dunwoody, keeps artists and customers coming back year after year.
If there's any indication of how strong a sense of community the Spruill Gallery has built around its Holiday Artists' Market, it's artist Barbara O'Connell. Her preparation for the sale, which opens Friday, started back in February. O'Connell is nearly blind from macular degeneration, has lung and liver cancer and, earlier this year, had to have her stomach removed to keep stomach cancer from spreading. But for months the 73-year-old crafter and seamstress worked "diligently every day" on ornaments and decorations for Spruill's 17th annual art sale, her daughter-in-law Maria O'Connell said.
