According to Jan Rygert of the Nordic Lodge, the St. Lucia tradition is celebrated in Sweden and to some extent in other Scandanavian countries. A young Lucia wears a long, white gown with a red sash and a crown of lighted candles. She is attended by a group of singing attendants in festive holiday costumes. Saffron buns and gingersnaps would be offered by Lucia, as well as coffee, to everyone she saw on the morning of Dec. 13.

A reception will follow the celebration, featuring coffee and sweets in the church's Fellowship Hall.
