Food 'n Fun Festival Aims to Ease Hunger

Saturday's Food 'n Fun Festival will include games, a hunger walk and more -- all to help collect food for the Community Assistance Center.

The Festival will be held on Saturday, May 10, from 11 am - 2pm at the Morgan Falls Sports Complex.

The Food `n Fun Festival features a Hunger Awareness Walk and Food Drive, Shopping Cart Decorating Contest, community festival and active games for youth of all ages. The US Army and Marines are hosting military games for teams to compete in friendly games and many civic and religious organizations will be present by running an activity, collecting food, decorating a cart and collaborating to help make a difference in Sandy Springs and Dunwoody while having a great time.

Register online to walk through Friday, May 9 or register at the gate at the event. The cost is $10 for adults, kids 14 and younger can walk at no cost.

CAC is asking teams to collect food to help stock the local food pantry for the summer; run an activity at the festival, volunteer at the event, decorate a shopping cart for the parade with a special theme and walk to help raise awareness of hunger in our community.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams with the most creative, funniest and inspiring designs for their shopping cart, as well as teams that collect the most food. For some, the end of the school year compounds the needs of families facing a sudden financial hardship or those with limited resources. UPS is on board as a sponsor and to help with logistics for the Food Drive.
