Anne Glenn Wins Rotary's Four Avenues of Service Award

Glenn is the ninth member to be honored in 27 years of the Dunwoody Rotary

Rotary International allows a club to nominate one member per year for recognition as the recipient of the Four Avenues of Service Rotarian Award.  At its annual Awards Banquet at Dunwoody Country Club, Anne Glenn was announced as its winner of this coveted award.  In its 27 years of service to the community, Anne Glenn is only the ninth member to be so honored.

The 16-year veteran of the RCD has served in all four areas of service required to attain this honor:  Club Service, Vocational Service, Community Service, and International Service.  Mrs. Anne Glenn has amassed many awards and has served in various leadership roles:  Public Relations Chair 1997-98; 4th of July Float Chair in 1998-2000, winning first place; Vocational Service Director 1999-2000; Community Service Director 2001-02; Club Secretary 2003-04; President Nominee 2004-05; Co-editor of the District Newsletter; President 2006-07, the year RCD won Best all Around Club for District 6900; Co-Director of District Public Relations 2007-08; District Interact Chair 2008-10; RFFA Board of Directors, Marketing and PR Director 2007-10 (a medical mission in Kenya); Director of International Service 2011-12.

In 2002-03, she was selected for the “You Are the Key” Award by the district for her comprehensive service to others through the role of Director of Club Administration. She is a major donor to the Rotary Foundation, which funds philanthropic causes locally and around the world.  During her year as President, she initiated the Long-range Planning Process.  As a result of her leadership, the club chartered a course for a healthy future of service in the community.  She and her husband, Clark Glenn, hosted Russian banking executives for six weeks in a Rotary vocational exchange program. Also during her year, the Atlanta Women’s and Children’s Shelter was selected as recipient of RCD efforts.  Consequently, more than 200 pairs of shoes for moms and kids were donated at Christmas.

Anne Glenn says she agreed to “show up” at a Rotary Club of Dunwoody meeting in 1995 and then became a Rotarian after she became the beneficiary of their generous service to her during the Dunwoody tornado.  From being a local Rotarian, she became a global Rotarian via her work in the slums of Nairobi, which offered an avenue of service to the children of the world.  She emphasizes, though, that Rotary has given to her more than she has given: best friends and soul mates; grand adventures; and a platform for her heartfelt desire to serve others.

Anne Glenn owns Dated Events through which she uses her creativity and business expertise.  She is the Brand Creator and Manager of RunDunwoody, the club’s major fundraiser for needs in the local and global community.
