Funeral services for Ernie Johnson, Sr. were held this morning at St. Jude Catholic Church, in Sandy Springs.
The former announcer for the Atlanta Braves died on Friday, at the age of 87. Johnson played for the Boston and Milwaukee Braves from 1950-1958 and the Baltimore Orioles in 1959, and was inducted into the Braves Hall of Fame in 2001.
Johnson is survived by Lois, his wife of 63 years, and children Dawn, Chris, and Ernie Jr.

Family and friends at Tuesday’s services included Bobby Cox, Dale Murphy, Atlanta Braves President John Schuerholz, Steve Holman, the voice of the Atlanta Hawks, and baseball great Phil Niekro.
