Dunwoody JV baseball advances; girls gymnastics finishes second

Dunwoody baseball to advance to county's tournament semifinal. Lady Wildcats gymnastics team stopped short of fourth consecutive county championship.

Dunwoody’s junior varsity baseball team kept its perfect season alive, and will advance to the semifinals of the county’s baseball tournament this weekend.

The Wildcats improved to 10-0 by defeating Martin Luther King Jr. High School 12-1 and Stephenson High School 5-2 this weekend.

Dunwoody will face Stephenson in a rematch of early tournament play at 10 a.m. Saturday at Druid Hills Middle School. Should they advance, they will take on the winner of the contest between Lakeside and Chamblee high schools.

Dunwoody’s girls’ gymnastics team had its consecutive streak of three county championships end Monday. Lakeside prevailed in the county championship meet, held at Dunwoody High School.

Dunwoody finished as the runner up, finishing behind Lakeside’s point total. Tucker, Southwest DeKalb and Arabia Mountain high schools rounded out the top five in the standings.

There were some good individual performances from the Lady Wildcats. Oksana Casey finished in second place in the All-Around competition with a 33.3 point total. Dunwoody sophomore Lizzie Marra finished fifth in the same category with a 31.1 point total.
