2013 Projected CF Win Totals for UGA & GT: Over or Under?

Will the Dawgs win 10 regular season games this year? Can the Jackets muster at least nine wins?

July arrives Monday which means football season is just around the corner. The end of month will signal players reporting to preseason camp at the University of Georgia and the Georgia Institute of Technology.

And we’re just two months away from the season openers on Aug. 31 as the Bulldogs travel to face Clemson and the Yellow Jackets play host to Elon.

One local who most likely hasn’t forgotten the pain and sweat that comes with college football preseason camp is Wright Mitchell, who quarterbacked at the University of South Carolina after his playing days at The Lovett School had concluded in the late 1980s.

Mitchell, a partner at the labor and employment law firm of Constangy, Brooks & Smith and the founder and president of the Buckhead Heritage Society, may have been reminded of the hot and grueling summer days in Columbia, S.C. while completing his first Iron Man competition in June at the IRONMAN Coeur d’Alene in Idaho. 14 1/2 hours later he did it - nice job Wright!

Anyway, football season is indeed creeping upon us and while we’ll touch upon the college and professional ranks in future posts, let’s take a look at the college brand of ball here. This week, like many such sports wagering websites, 5Dimes.com released its Over/Under regular season win totals for 70 or so BCS programs. Conference championship games and bowls do not count

Georgia was projected at 9.5 wins and Georgia Tech at 8.5. A first hunch here says take the under with both schools. What do you think?

Alabama and Ohio State both led the way at 11.5 win followed by seven others at 10.5 (Boise State, Clemson, Florida State, Louisville, Oklahoma State, Oregon and Southern Cal).

The SEC & ACC looks like this:

SEC:
Alabama: 11.5 wins; Georgia: 9.5 wins; South Carolina: 9.5 wins; Texas A&M: 9.5 wins; LSU: 9.5 wins; Florida: 9.5 wins; Mississippi: 8.5 wins; Vanderbilt: 7.5 wins; Auburn: 6.5 wins; Tennessee: 5.5 wins; Missouri: 5.5 wins; Mississippi State: 5.5 wins; Kentucky: 3.5 wins.

ACC:
Clemson: 10.5 wins; Florida St: 10.5 wins; Virginia Tech: 9.5 wins; Miami: 9.5 wins; North Carolina: 9.5 wins; Georgia Tech: 8.5 wins; North Carolina State: 6.5 wins; Maryland: 6.5 wins; Wake Forest: 5.5 wins; Pitt: 5.5 wins; Duke: 5.5 wins; Syracuse: 4.5 wins; Virginia: 4.5 wins; Boston College: 4.5 wins.

Which looks like best top two or three picks in your opinion?

I’d say NC State (O), Pitt (O) & Florida State (U)
