Vanderlyn Ready to Go After Water Main Break last Week

Vanderlyn students were sent to Peachtree Charter Middle School Friday after a water main break

After a water main break disrupted school at Vanderlyn Elementary at the end of last week, things should be back to normal heading into Monday.

Issues with the school's water main started Thursday, but the issue became larger Friday morning around 11 a.m. when the school had a water main break, which forced students out of the building for the afternoon. Students spent the remainder of the day at Peachtree Charter Middle School, and were sent back to the elementary school for pick-up after the school day was done, according to an email sent out to parents.

Principal Noel Maloof could not be reached late Friday afternoon. He sent out an email to parents alerting them of the issue early Friday afternoon.

Nancy Jester, a school board member who represents the area, said the break was fixed over the weekend and everything is set to go back to normal this week.

Jester said she spoke to Maloof who said the school was sure all students were accounted for on Friday in the shifts between schools.
