Tax Holiday Good Time to Buy School Supplies

Vanderlyn, Chesnut and Austin and Dunwoody elementary schools begin school Monday. Is your kid stocked up?

It's almost that time of the year again. On Monday, Dunwoody parents ofΒ  will be sending their kids back to DeKalb County schools.

Which means they'll need school supplies. If you haven't already bought them, that's perhaps not a bad thing.

Georgia has a sales tax holiday on August 10 and 11 - that includes both back to school clothes and supplies - including computers.

- but in general - clothes and shoes are part of the tax holiday, computer and related accessories are tax-free up to $1,000 and school supply items priced at $20 and below are part of the holiday.

If your kid goes to Vanderlyn, check out their link for grade-by-grade school supply lists, which have been organized online. Dunwoody Elementary School also has lists by grade online.

Some of the supplies that seem to cross lists are No. 2 pencils, 24-count crayons, glue sticks, tissues and hand sanitizer, 12-inch rulers, heavy-duty three ring binders, composition notebooks, wide-ruled notebook paper, plastic sealing bags and paper towels.
