Mayor Mike Davis will participate in the event at the Primrose School of Dunwoody.

In honor of the National Education Association’s Read Across America Day, more than 130 children at the Primrose School of Dunwoody will celebrate literacy with more than 45 million readers nationwide.

The event is set for Tuesday, Feb. 26, from 9-11 am.

The preschoolers, ranging in age from 1 to 5 years old, will wear handmade Dr. Seuss hats.

Read Across America Day is an annual reading motivation and awareness program that calls for every child in every community to celebrate reading on or around Dr. Seuss’ birthday.

Dunwoody Mayor, Mike Davis, Dunwoody Elementary School Principal, Jennifer Sanders, Dunwoody Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Debbie Fuse, along with Austin Elementary School PTA member, Cindy McGee, Vanderlyn PTA member, Carolyn Matulich and 3rd grade daughter Olivia, will be guest readers at the event and will talk to the children about the importance of literacy and what it means to them in their careers and lives.
