Postseason Schedule Dominates the Scene at Dunwoody High School

Girls, boys soccer and boys' tennis team compete in state tournament, baseball team makes playoff tune-up with region scramble

It is a busy time of year for the student-athletes at .

In soccer, both the girls and boys find themselves amongst the top-tier clubs in Georgia as they begin competition in the state playoffs. On the diamond, the baseball squad prepares for their pending state playoff run with region scramble games. Also, the boys’ tennis team continues their march toward a state crown with second-round action in the tournament.

The baseball club gets things started this week as they host Chamblee today at 5:55 p.m. In its most recent outing, Dunwoody blew out Carver-Atlanta 15-0 to improve to 18-6. The Wildcats also boast a second-place record of 11-2 in Region 6-AAAA. Dunwoody closes out the regular season at Mays on Wednesday. The baseball playoffs begin the first week of May.

Dunwoody’s soccer teams both clinched spots in the playoffs, and both squads open the first round on the road.

The girls board the school bus on Tuesday, April 26 as a No. 4 seed and travel to Flowery Branch to face the No. 1 seed Lady Falcons. Kickoff is slated for 6 p.m. Dunwoody’s girls completed the regular season at 11-5 with a second-place mark of 7-3 in league play.

In boys’ action, the Wildcats enter the tournament as a No. 3 seed and play at No. 2 seed Clarke Central. Dunwoody finished the regular season as Region 6-AAAA champions at 9-2 and an overall record of 11-3.

Should they advance to the second round, the girls will at the winner of South Forsyth/East Paulding on Monday, May 2. If the boys are winners this week, they’ll play the victor of the South Forsyth/Kell game on Wednesday, May 4.
