Five Things to Do This Weekend, Sept. 30 - Oct. 2: Events at PCMS and Fundraisers

Welcome to "Five Things You Need to Know for the Weekend," a Dunwoody Patch column that sifts through the long list of events competing for your time to offer our pick of five things worth doing with your time off.

1. Help out your local junior high school. Peachtree Charter Middle School has its and on Saturday at the school.

The 5k starts at 8 a.m. and the 1 mile fun run starts at 8:30 a.m. Entry is $20 and the money raised goes to replace the school’s cracked concrete track.

The Fourth Annual Fall Festival starts at 9 a.m. The festival, which supports the school’s drama club includes a silent auction, dunk tank, photo booth, giant slide, jousting, games, a bake sale and kids crafts.

2. Support your swimmers. for the team Saturday morning at 9:30 a.m. in the Burger King parking lot at 5468 Chamblee Dunwoody Rd. The event runs until 2:30 p.m.

3. Weiner dog mania is hitting Brook Run Park. The park will be home to at 10 a.m. The festival goes to benefit DREAM Dachshund Rescue. There will be a costume contest, tail wagging contest, face kissing contest and dachshund races, as well as live bluegrass music.

4. It’s never too early to think about holiday giving. which gives toys to the needy. The first meeting for the program will be held Friday night at Dunwoody City Hall starting at 6 p.m.

5. Walk for food allergy awareness Saturday morning at the . The walk, which is dedicated to raising funds for food allergy awareness, advocacy, education and research, will start at 9 a.m. at Brook Run Park.
