Two longtime Dunwoody residents are helping Greater Atlanta Christian School finalize plans for a new school in Rwanda.

Gary and Karen Chamblee are helping the Norcross school establish the Central Africa School of Excellence in the African nation.

Earlier this week, on Jan. 15, Rwandan president Paul Kagame received a delegation from the Greater Atlanta Christian School, led by Mike O’Neal, former president of Oklahoma Christian University. The delegation, which also included architects and engineers, was in the country to finalize plans for the school, which will be created in partnership with the Rwandan government.

According to Kagame's website, after the meeting, O'Neal said, "Greater Atlanta was looking for an African nation that is receptive to education. We are so pleased that this is happening.”

Dr. Vincent Biruta, Rwanda's education minister, said, "We expect high quality education that will benefit students from Rwanda and the region.”
