Dunwoody High School council Updates Parents on Administrative Shake-Up

The school will lose Principal Rodney Swanson to a district transfer. Assistant Principal Tom Bass is said to be interested in the job after he announced his resignation.

In the wake of news that Dunwoody High School's principal will be reassigned, local parents are discussing what will happen to the school's assistant principal.

The Dunwoody High School's resident council sent a letter to parents of children attending the school, posted Monday on Councilman John Heneghan's blog.

The letter clarifies the reassignment of current principal Rodney Swanson, who will take over the top administrative position at Arabia Mountain High School.

The letter also states that Tom Bass, the assistant principal, had decided to resign to teach closer to home, a decision that was made before Swanson was reassigned.

Bass, since the announcement of the reassignment, has put his name into the hat now that Dunwoody's top position is being recruited, the letter says.

It also attempts to quell speculation that the district is targeting Dunwoody in any way.

"This is not done to 'punish' Dunwoody -- our new superintendent does not work that way," says the letter from the DHS School Council," according to the letter.
