Candle Smoke Leads to Fire Alarm, Evacuation at DHS

Dunwoody High School evacuated before noon Monday

The smoke from a lit candle caused a fire alarm and full school evacuation late Monday morning at Dunwoody High School.

According to DHS Principal Rodney Swanson, around 11:45 a.m., the fire alarm went off at the school. The buidling was evacuated and police and fire were called to the scene, Swanson said in an email.

The fire department determined the alarm was set off by smoke from a candle in a classroom, Swanson said.
