Rep. Tom Taylor Named Freshman of Year by Georgia Chamber

First year State Representative from Dunwoody earns honor from Georgia Chamber of Commerce

State Rep. Tom Taylor is getting good grades after his first session at the State Capitol.

Taylor (R-Dunwoody) was named Freshman of the Year for 2011 by the Georgia Chamber of Commerce.

He earned an 'A+' grade from the Chamber in his first year, and was the only member of the state house to vote with the Chamber 100 percent of the time throughout the session, according to a news release.

Taylor, who served as a Dunwoody City Councilman before heading to the Georgia General Assembly,  sits on the House Economic Development and Tourism, Regulated Industries, and MARTA Oversight committees.

“In these difficult economic times, Georgia’s businesses need their elected officials to make decisions that will help grow the private sector and create jobs,” said Georgia Chamber President and CEO Chris Clark, in a press release.  “These three individuals have proven to be true champions of business and free enterprise.  We are grateful for their commitment and we look forward to continuing to work with them to build the most business-friendly environment in the nation.”

Taylor was the only freshman to win the award. House Speaker David Ralston (R-Blue Ridge) and State Sen. John Bulloch (R-Ochlocknee) were named as the Legislators of the Year.
