Ethics Board to Discuss Complaint against Councilwoman

Ethics Board will also discuss counter complaint filed by Councilwoman Adrian Bonser against the council, city manager, and the former city attorney.

The city's ethics board will convene Tuesday to discuss the complaint that Councilwoman Adrian Bonser leaked information from city executive sessions.

The ethics board is scheduled to first vote on whether to appoint Richard Carothers, an attorney the city's acting city attorney has recommended to be independent counsel for the ethics board.

The ethics board is also scheduled to consider a against the members of the city council and City Manager Warren Hutmacher that was filed after the complaint against her.Β

She says in her complaint that the council met outside the state's open meeting law when they got together to sign the complaint against her. She also claims that the executive session in which she is alleged to have leaked confidential information was improperly convened.

Also, Bonser, in a letter sent last week, Β from the precedings, in part, because he was interviewed by Hutmacher. She also asked that members of the city's ethics board walk away.

Bonser asserted in that Carothers has a conflict of interest because of Hutmacher's involvement. She filed an ethics complaint against members of the city council and Hutmacher in recent weeks, and her attorney said in a recent letter that Hutmacher has a "vendetta" against her.

The ethics board is scheduled to have a discussion about the complaint filed on Bonser. All the members of the city council expect Bonser signed a complaint after the from city executive sessions.

The report names Bonser and Brian Anderson, former city attorney, as the , which includes the sale of the PVC Farm. Bonser and Anderson, , leaked the information because they didn't support the development, according to the report.

Bonser's complaint also names Anderson.

The ethics board will meet ahead of Bonser's official response to the complaint against her. City council members properly filed the first complaint in late May. The city's rules regarding the ethics complaint say that Bonser has 30 days to respond. City officials say that she was officially served the complaint in mid-June.

The ethics board is scheduled to meet at 5 p.m. The city released the agenda on Monday, after announcing the meeting last week.
