Dunwoody To Help Brookhaven If Icy Roads Hit

Dunwoody will provide salt and sand to the new city of Brookhaven if icy roads develop Thursday night and Friday morning.

Brookhaven officially takes over its own road services and repairs at 12:01 am on Jan. 18.

According to Richard Meehan, Brookhaven's privately contracted public works director, his department has coordinated with Dunwoody to get salt and sand in the event that roads need to be treated. He said he has also coordinated with Roadworx, the company that provides road services to Brookhaven, to have crews and equipment ready.

According to Brookhaven spokesperson Tisa Moore, plans call for pre-treatment of bridges on main thoroughfares such as Ashford Dunwoody, Johnson Ferry, Clairmont and North Druid Hills, after the rain has passed and before freezing temperatures hit.
