Dunwoody to gauge "State of the City"

Mayor Mike Davis to assess past accomplishments tonight and set a new course for city's growth and economic development

City leaders and residents will gather at the Crowne Plaza Ravinia hotel tonight to hear newly elected Mayor Mike Davis talk about the city’s past accomplishments and chart a course for 2012.

“At the state of the city address, we not only celebrate the many accomplishments of the past year but we announce a new set of goals and targets for 2012. It’s a high energy event that has become a tradition for the city," said City Manager Warren Hutmacher, in a statement.

The newly elected Davis, who is serving in his first year as mayor, will focus on critical issues upcoming in the city, including smart growth, city financial discipline, Dunwoody's economic development and key projects that are expected to take shape in the coming year.

This will be the third such address since the city was incorporated in late 2008.

The year’s events will begin with a reception at 6 p.m. The address is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.

In addition to an address by Davis, Chris Cummiskey, Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Economic Development, will speak.

The event is open to the public, and its top sponsors are the city, Dunwoody Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club of Dunwoody and Carbonara restaurant.

Transportation, transit and economic development are top issues for metro Atlanta, according to Johns Creek Mayor Mike Bodker. Looking forward to hearing what Dunwoody's top issues are tonight at the State of the City address. http://civicleagueatlanta.wordpress.com/2012/02/20/regional-player-of-the-week-4/
