Dunwoody Mayor's Race: Bob Dallas In, James Sibold Considering Candidacy

Dallas, the head of the city's planning commission, plans to run for Mayor. Sibold, an attorney and two-time candidate for State Senate, has set up an exploratory committee

Two Dunwoody attorneys have started the road towards the Dunwoody mayoral election this fall.

Bob Dallas, the chair of the city's planning commission, announced Sunday that he will be running for mayor this fall.

Dallas, 55, has lived in Dunwoody since 1983. He worked as an attorney until 2003, when he accepted a job with Gov. Sonny Perdue's office as the Director of Highway Safety.

Dallas said he's running on four main issues:

-       Maintaining a very sound economic development plan

-       Focusing on public safety and code enforcement

-       Reflecting the city’s values in land use and zoning policy

-       Ensuring the city take advantage of transportation and parks to substantially improve the quality of life.

James Sibold has announced he's started an exploratory committee for a possible run for mayor. He's the former chairman of the Republican Party in DeKalb County.

Sibold, who has lived in Dunwoody for 19 years and practiced law here for 25 years, said he feels the city may be .

"I think the city is moving away from its own roots," he said, pointing to the possible parks and transportation bonds the city could send to voters in November.

He said his platform will be keeping the tax base low and creating opportunties for economic development.

"If I finally do get into the race it's going to be because I see there's no candidate with that goal in mind," he said.
