Dunwoody City Council to meet tonight

Council to discuss land sale for Georgetown redevelopment

The Dunwoody City Council will meet tonight and discuss fine tuning an agreement to buy 19 acres for redevelopment in the Georgetown area.

The property, on North Shallowford and Pernoshal Court, accounts for more than half of the 35 acres that Dunwoody is hoping will lure private developers to build a landmark redevelopment in the Georgetown area, the city's eastern gateway.

at its last meeting to buy the 19-acre former Emory hospital site from Nashville-based American Medicorp Development Company.  The city already owns 15 acres, known as the 'PVC farm,' directly across North Shallowford Road. Both sites are included in the redevelopment effort.

The most recent proposed change to the sale agreement would modify the timing and the interest of the payments. The city would pay an estimated $6.1 million for the land after executing an option agreement that allows the city to make payments on the property up to 2014.
