Dunwoody Charter Commission Meets Wednesday Night

The Dunwoody Charter Commission has seen packed meetings for months.

The Dunwoody Charter Commission meets again on Wednesday night to continue its review of the city's charter.

During its last meeting on Jul 31, the commission members voted 3-2 on its third recommendation regarding the funding of a possible future city fire department. The recommendation would be that a separate fire millage be created to replace the current DeKalb fire millage now paid by Dunwoody citizens, according to a report from the Dunwoody Reporter.

Additionally, the commissioners voted unanimously to recommend a fire tax reduction similar to the Homestead Option Sales Tax for homeowners. The reduction would be based on an average of five years' worth of HOST reductions prior to the start of the city's takeover of fire services.

The Dunwoody Charter Commission meeting begins Wednesday, Aug. 14 at 7 p.m. at 47 Perimeter Center East, Suite #400, Conference Center.
