Doraville Elects Donna Pittman as New Mayor

Pittman is the first woman to hold the city's top office

Doraville, Dunwoody's neighbor to the southeast, has elected City Councilwoman Donna Pittman the new mayor.

Pittman, who will be the first woman to hold the office, edged out opponent Carol Gilman in a special runoff election Tuesday by a vote of 293 to 262.

The election was held to fill the seat of Ray Jenkins, who died in February at the age of 80. Jenkins had served as mayor since 2003.

Pittman, the mayor pro tem and current acting mayor, has served on Doraville's City Council since 2005.
