Council Honors Outgoing City Manager Warren Hutmacher

Warren Hutmacher honored at April 21 City Council meeting.

Since its incorporation in December 2008, the City of Dunwoody has only known one city manager. On Monday, April 21, the City Council honored Warren Hutmacher, who has resigned his position to become city manager of Johns Creek.

According to Reporter Newspapers, Hutmacher referred to his being honored as a "humbling and wonderful experience."

Hutmacher's official bio lists his previous service as city manager for the City of Norcross, Georgia since 2006 and as the City Manager of Avondale Estates, Georgia from 2003 to 2006.

He also worked four years as the Assistant to the City Manager for the City of Marietta, Georgia and worked a year in the Governor’s Office of Planning and Budget.

Hutmacher helped create the nationally recognized “Citizens Government Academy”, which educates citizens on how their city government operates.

Per Reporter Newspapers, Dunwoody Mayor Mike Davis said Hutmacher "basically started this city."

Hutmacher's last day with the city is Friday, April 25. Police Chief Billy Grogan will serve as acting city manager while the city searches for replacement candidates.
