City Hires New Community Development Director

Steve Dush will take job, comes from Fort Collins, Colo.

The City of Dunwoody has hired a new Community Development Director.

Steve Dush, currently the community development and neighborhood services director for Fort Collins, Colo., will start on Jan. 23.

“We are thrilled to welcome Steve to Dunwoody,” said City Manager Warren Hutmacher, in a press release. “His wide experience, continuous track record of success and his passion for community building provides the City with a great leader for this Department. There are considerable challenges ahead for Dunwoody as we move this Department forward. Steve is the right person to lead this department.”

Dush will replace the city's current Community Development Director Mike Tuller, who served the city since 2009.

According to the city, Dush has significant experience managing short and long-term planning, development services, zoning analysis, code compliance, historic preservation and redevelopment activities. He has more than 19 years of experience working for different municipalities and counties around the country. Dush has his Bachelors degree in Political Science and Masters degree in Community and Regional Planning from the University of Nebraska. He is certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).

“I am honored to be Dunwoody's Community Development Director,” said Dush, in a press release. “The ability to be part of maintaining and enhancing Dunwoody through thoughtful and collaborative planning is a great opportunity.”

The Community Development Department is responsible for managing the planning and zoning functions of the City as well as development regulation, code compliance and sustainability programs. The Community Development Director will help managing development and land use matters and working with the City Council, Planning Commission as well as homeowners and businesses involved in the development process.
