Updated - Dunwoody Prep Shooting: Neuman Allegedly Bought Gun for $375 Cash

Testimony from investigators reveals alleged murder weapon, information on early interview with Andrea Sneiderman

Monday afternoon, as defense attorneys questioned Dunwoody Police and county investigators about the application for and execution of 15 search warrants, there were some revelations about the alleged murder weapon and the first interview with Andrea Sneiderman.

It was the second of two pre-trial hearings in the case against Hemy Neuman, the man accused of gunning down Russell ‘Rusty’ Sneiderman outside of a Dunwoody preschool on Nov. 18.

Neuman’s defense attorney, Bob Rubin, asked investigators about search warrants of Neuman’s residences, several of his email addresses, his iPad and iPhone, his cell phone records and his bank account records.

During one interview, DeKalb County District Attorney Investigator Chris Pasibe said that one of the state’s witnesses, Jan DeSilva, said he sold a Bersa Thunder handgun to Neuman for $375 in cash last October.

DeSilva had advertised the gun online.

According to a JP Morgan Bank alert sent to Neuman’s email, Neuman withdrew $400 in cash before the gun sale with DeSilva.

It as also revealed that during initial interviews with Andrea Sneiderman, she said that Neuman had been her supervisor and had made unwanted advances towards her, Det. Andrew Thompson said. “But she minimized that, and said it was a one-time incident and nothing came of it.”

In the separation proceedings for Neuman, there were .

Andrews also said that early in the investigation both Sneiderman’s family and Andrea Sneiderman encouraged the police department to investigate other avenues.

In the afternoon hearings, Neuman’s attorney Bob Rubin asked why there had been searches of both 77 East Andrews Dr. in Buckhead, an apartment where Neuman was staying, as well as 2208 LaSalle Dr. in East Cobb. Both were listed as his residence in the warrants.

There were also questions as to when and where the warrants had been obtained.

Rubin also asked what evidence was being searched for in both residences.

In the warrant for 77 East Andrews Dr., it said that police would be looking for a silver gun, a costume and other evidence related to the crime.

Rubin pointed out that none of those items were found at either place, that no witnesses had said those items would be there and that there was a catch all phrase for other items listed on the warrant.

“You can’t describe what you are looking for, but you’ll know it when you see it?” Rubin asked Det. Thompson.

The witness on the last warrant to be questioned by Neuman’s attorneys was not available.

That witness will testify at the next hearing on the matter on Aug. 24 and final arguments will be heard on the challenge to the search warrants.
