Update: Missing Woman Found Sunday

The older woman from Dunwoody South Plantation was missing and suffers from dementia.

A woman suffering from dementia who had been missing since Saturday morning was located late Sunday or early Monday morning, according to Dunwoody Police.

Janice Beard, 61, was a resident of Plantation South Dunwoody at the 4500 block of Barclay Dr. The facility is an assisted living home that also specializes in "memory care," according to its website.

Police became hopeful of locating the woman soon Sunday after witnesses placed the woman at Chamblee Dunwoody Road and Vermack Road around 1 p.m. Saturday.

A "Mattie’s call" had been issued to help find the woman, who was described as 5-feet 4-inches tall and 136 pounds.

Witnesses told police before she was found that they saw the woman picked up in a white or silver Toyota Camry or Corolla and that the vehicle was headed north on Chamblee Dunwoody Road.

It is unknown if the woman knew the people in the vehicle or why she was riding in it. Police did also not report how the woman was found safe late Sunday evening or early Monday morning.

More details will be provided as they become available. Check back to Dunwoody Patch.
