Suspects in "Smash and Grab" Robbery Arrested

Two people suspected of walking into a department store and running out with $2,000 worth of merchandise arrested after some heads-up policing.

It took Dunwoody Police one day, a lucky break, and some heads-up police work to catch two people suspected of walking into Loehmann's department store Saturday and running out with $2,000 worth of merchandise.

When the incident occurred, police received a report that the suspects in the brazen theft at the 100 block of Perimeter Center Place hopped into an older model Jaguar with a temporary, paper dealer tag.

At about 7:30 p.m. Sunday an off-duty officer was headed home after his shift. As he drove south on Ashford Dunwoody Road he spotted what he thought could be the Jaguar police were looking for with two people inside.

He pulled over the car and after what police described as a "few tense moments," the suspects were identified as those linked to the smash and grab robbery the day before.

According to police, one of the suspects confessed to the incident at Loehmann's and other crimes.
