Police Seize 60 Pounds of Marijuana

Brookhaven Police seized more than 60 pounds of marijuana and a loaded gun during a traffic stop Tuesday night, according to a press release from the city..

An officer patrolling Clairmont Road saw a Mercedes Benz with windows in violation of the state’s tint law. The officer stopped the vehicle and noticed a strong marijuana scent.

The officer found several large bags containing more the marijuana. Police also seized a loaded handgun, some $2,200 in cash and designer handbags.

The driver, Thomas Estaba, 43, of Stone Mountain, was arrested on multiple drug and firearm charges and taken to DeKalb County jail with more charges are pending.

“These drugs are off the street thanks to the great initiative of our patrol officers,” Brookhaven Police Chief Gary Yandura said in the press release.
