Police Blotter Feb. 14 - Feb. 21

This blotter is a collected from the daily crime reports posted online and crime news releases from the Dunwoody Police Department.

Smash and grab

• Using an ax to smash the front door, a man broke into the CVS store at 1610 Mount Vernon Rd. around 2 a.m. Monday, jumped over the counter and stole $300 in Newport cigarettes and two Craig DVD players worth a total of $80. He tossed the items into a bag and fled the store.

The suspect is described as a black male, between the ages of 25-40, 5’9”, 160 pounds, with a receding hairline.

He was wearing a gray fleece, grey windbreaker pants with double black stripes, Nike shoes and white gloves. He had a blue towel covering his face.

He fled the scene.

Burglary

• A Playstation 3 and an iPod radio dock were reported stolen from a residence at 100 Perimeter Lofts Circle on Feb. 14. The items were valued at $400.

• A 25-year-old Decatur man was arrested for allegedly burglarizing a residence on the 12100 block of Ashford Gables Drive on Feb. 16. Nothing was reported stolen in the initial police report.

• A Sony Playstation 3 and five Playstation games, worth a total of $550, were reported stolen from a residence on the 2400 block of Dunwoody Crossing between 2 and 6 p.m. of Feb. 16.

• A burglary was reported at a residence at the 2300 block of Dunwoody Crossing just before 6 a.m. on Feb. 18. A window was broken out. Nothing was reported stolen in the initial police report.

• Dunwoody police were sent to a burglary in-progress call on Saturday morning at the 2300 block of Dunwoody Crossing. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived. Nothing was reported stolen.

• More than $18,000 in cash was reported stolen from a residence in the Pointe at Perimeter apartments, 100 Ashford Gables Dr., between Thursday and Saturday. No forced entry was reported.

 

Shoplifting

• Two Decatur women were arrested Feb. 15 on shoplifting charges after they allegedly tried to steal $71 worth of jewelry from Macy’s in Perimeter Mall.

• A 17-year-old Ellenwood man was arrested for shoplifting on Feb. 15 after allegedly trying to steal two pairs of Levi’s jeans worth $122 from Macy’s at Perimeter Mall.

• A 32-year-old Roswell man was arrested on shoplifting charges after he allegedly tried to steal more than $500 in clothing from Macy’s at Perimeter Mall on Feb. 17.

• A 33-year-old Lawrenceville man was arrested on charges of shoplifting in the early afternoon of Feb. 18 after he allegedly attempted to steal $260 worth of perfume from Marshall’s, 1131 Hammond Dr.

• An 18-year-old Stone Mountain man was arrested on charges of shoplifting in the evening of Feb. 18 after he allegedly tried to steal $136 in jeans and shirts from Macy’s at Perimeter Mall.

• A 17-year-old Dacula man was arrested Saturday evening after allegedly trying to steal a pair of Levi’s jeans from Dillard’s at Perimeter Mall.

 

Car break-ins

• A briefcase worth $100 was reported stolen Feb. 15 from a vehicle parked on the 200 block of Perimeter Center Parkway.

• A Lenovo ThinkPad laptop and laptop bag, worth a total of $1,100, were reported stolen form a vehicle parked on the 200 block of Perimeter Center Parkway in the early afternoon of Feb. 16.

• An HP laptop and laptop bag, valued in total at $1,150, were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the 200 block of Perimeter Center Parkway in the early afternoon of Feb. 16.

• An HP laptop computer worth $750 was reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the 1100 block of Hammond Drive in the early afternoon hours of Feb. 18.

• A Tom Tom GPS, an iPod and a pair of Colin Stuart shoes, valued at a total of $712, were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the 4400 block of Tilly Mill Road between Friday night and Saturday morning.

• A Tom Tom GPS was reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the 4300 block of Tilly Mill Road sometime between Friday night and Saturday afternoon.

 

Assault

• Police were sent to the 4500 block of Amberly Court South on Feb. 14 on a report of an assault. They arrived to find a dispute between two women, a 47-year-old and a 67-year-old. The 47-year-old woman had a knife and was arrested on charges of aggravated assault.

 

Theft

• A wallet with $300 cash was reported stolen Feb. 15 from a restaurant at the Park Place Shopping center, on the 4500 block of Ashford Dunwoody Road.

 

Car theft

• A 1976 tan and red Chevy Monte Carlo was reported stolen from the 5300 block of Dunwoody Gables Drive between Feb. 16 and Feb. 17.
