Police Blotter Dec. 17-24: Robbery, Burglaries, Theft, Drug Arrests

This blotter is collected from the daily crime reports and news releases from the Dunwoody Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction

 

Street robbery

• A 25-year-old man was robbed of $900 on the afternoon of Dec. 18 on the 4300 block of Ashford Dunwoody Road outside of the Perimeter Mall. The suspect walked up from behind the victim as the victim was talking towards his car. The suspect implied he had a gun under his shirt.

Burglary

• A residence was reported burglarized on the night of Dec. 18 on the 2400 block of Kingsland Drive. Among the items stolen were diamond rings, cash, gold bracelets and earrings, an Apple MacBook and pearl necklaces. The total value of the stolen items was $13,235.

• A 21-year-old Dunwoody man was arrested on the night of Dec. 20 at the 100 block of Perimeter Center East on felony possession of burglary tools and a charge of loitering.

• A burglary was reported at a residence at the 5300 block of Cedar Chase on the night of Dec. 20. Men’s watches, women’s jewelry and an antique painting were reported stolen. The stolen items were valued at $45,000.

• A residence was reported burglarized on the 2400 block of Kings Point Drive on the night of Dec. 22. A Belkin internet router, a Toshiba laptop computer, two Dell laptops and a Swiss Army computer bag were reported stolen. The stolen items were valued at $3,450.

• A burglary was reported at a residence on the 1900 block of Northbrooke Lane on the night of Dec. 22.

• Clothing, a handgun and an Apple MacBook were reported stolen from a residence on the 2200 block of Dunwoody Crossing on the afternoon of Dec. 24. The stolen items were valued at $1,800.

• An attempted burglary was reported at a residence on the 2300 block of Dunwoody Crossing on the afternoon of Dec. 24.

• Arby’s at 2480 Jett Ferry Rd. was reported burglarized on the morning of Dec. 24. The burglars entered through the rear door of the building.

 

Theft

• A wallet was reported stolen from an 84-year-old woman at Wal-Mart, 4725 Ashford Dunwoody Rd. on the afternoon of Dec. 21. The wallet and its contents were valued at $172. Police said one man walked up to her to ask about cheese being on sale while another man walked up and stole her wallet from her cart.

• A catalytic converter valued at $1,000 was reported stolen from a Honda Element parked on the 4400 block of Ashford Dunwoody Road on the afternoon of Dec. 20.

• A catalytic converter worth $1,000 was reported stolen from a Honda Element parked in the parking deck at the Perimeter Mall on the afternoon of Dec. 21. It was the second catalytic converter stolen from a Honda Element reported stolen in the week.

• An Apple iPhone 4 worth $650 was reported stolen from a store on the 4600 block of North Shallowford Drive on the afternoon of Dec. 22.

• A theft was reported at a business on the 100 block of Perimeter Center Place on the afternoon of Dec. 23.  A purse with credit cards, identification cards and a cell phone was reported stolen. The purse and its contents were valued at $122.

• An Apple iPhone was reported stolen from a table at Brook Run Park, where it had been left, on the night of Dec. 19. The phone was valued at $400.

• $150 in parts were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the 100 block of Perimeter Center Place on the afternoon of Dec 19.

 

Shoplifting

• A juvenile was arrested on the afternoon of Dec. 18 at Target, 100 Perimeter Center Pl., for allegedly trying to steal $93.98 in t-shirts, pants and sweatshirts from the store.

• A 31-year-old Atlanta woman was arrested for allegedly trying to steal two DVDs worth a total of $30 from Kroger, 4498 Chamblee Dunwoody Rd. on the afternoon of Dec. 19.

• A 22-year-old Dunwoody woman was arrested on the evening of Dec. 19 for allegedly trying to steal Zyrtec allergy medicine worth $28.49 from Kroger, 4498 Chamblee Dunwoody Rd.

• A 29-year-old Atlanta woman and a juvenile were arrested on the afternoon of Dec. 19 for allegedly trying to steal $432 in merchandise from Macy’s at the Perimeter Mall.

• A 53-year-old Atlanta man was arrested on the morning of Dec. 20 at Target, 100 Perimeter Center Pl., for allegedly trying to steal groceries, household items and clothing. The stolen items were valued at $487.

• A 44-year-old Atlanta man was arrested on the afternoon of Dec. 20 for allegedly trying to steal $544 in clothing from Dillard’s at the Perimeter Mall.

• Two juveniles were arrested for allegedly trying to steal $238 in earrings, bags, sweaters and shirts from Macy’s at the Perimeter Mall on the evening of Dec. 20.

• A 24-year-old Decatur woman was arrested on charges of shoplifting for allegedly trying to steal $148.98 in jeans and shirts from Dillard’s at the Perimeter Mall on the evening of Dec. 21.

• A 19-year-old Conyers woman was arrested on the night of Dec. 21 for allegedly stealing $418 in cash from Abercrombie and Fitch at the Perimeter Mall.

• Two juveniles were arrested on the evening of Dec. 21 for allegedly trying to steal 23 pieces of clothing worth a total of $642 from Macy’s at the Perimeter Mall.

• 18 items of clothing were reported stolen from Victoria’s Secret at the Perimeter Mall on the afternoon of Dec. 24. In total, the stolen items were valued at $936.

 

Drug charges

• A 21-year-old Flemingsburg, Ky. woman was arrested on the afternoon of Dec. 22 for possession of methamphetamine. Police spotted the woman sitting in a parked car behind a vacant building on the 100 block of Dunwoody Park South. Among the items found were a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue, clear plastic bags, a plastic straw and several business cards for pain clinics.

• A 45-year-old Atlanta woman was arrested on evening of Dec. 23 on charges of possession of cocaine, drug possession and criminal trespass. She allegedly had crack cocaine and marijuana.

 

Car theft

• A green 2000 Toyota Camry was reported stolen from the 2100 block of Brendon Drive on the morning of Dec. 18. The vehicle was valued at $4,500.

• A white 2000 GMC Savana van was reported stolen from the 4600 block of Peachtree Place Parkway on the night of Dec. 19.

• A 2008 Nissan Rogue, stolen out of Jacksonville, Fla, was located by the Dunwoody Police Department on the 1800 block of Cotillion Drive on the night of Dec. 20.

 

Car Break-ins

• Cash, clothing, a watch, suitcases and jewelry were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the 1100 block of Hammond Drive on the evening of Dec. 19. The stolen items were valued at $8,220.

• An HTC Evo phone, a Sony PSP video game system and car parts were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the 1200 block of Ashford Cross on the afternoon of Dec. 20. The stolen items were valued at $750.

• A speaker box worth $300 was reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the 1800 block of Ball Mill Court on the afternoon of Dec. 21.

• $800 in construction materials were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the 2300 block of Peachford Road on the afternoon of Dec. 22.

• A pair of Maui Jims sunglasses and cash were reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the 1000 block of Mount Vernon Estates Drive on the morning of Dec. 24. The stolen items were valued at $505.

• An Omega watch worth $6,000 was reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the 1000 block of Pine Park Court on the morning of Dec. 24.

• A stereo valued at $1,000 was reported stolen from a vehicle parked on the 4400 block of Ashford Dunwoody Road on the afternoon of Dec. 24.

• A car break-in attempt was reported on the afternoon of Dec. 20 at the 1000 block of Crown Point Parkway.

 

Assault

• A 33-year-old Marietta woman was arrested on felony charges of aggravated assault, assault-intimidation and burglary, forced entry in the early hours of Dec. 20 on the 3300 block Asbury Square.

 

Vandalism

• A 33-year-old Dunwoody man was arrested on the morning of Dec. 23 for allegedly on charges of damage to property, for damaging a window, carpet and not repainting walls at Gables Metropolitan Apartments, 350 Perimeter Center N.
