Marietta man wanted for fraud

Suspected of scamming woman in Dunwoody traffic court

The Dunwoody Police have a warrant for a 46-year-old Marietta man that’s suspected of conning a woman after he told her that he was a translator for Dunwoody’s traffic court.

Carlos Sanchez Esquivel is being charged for forgery after being accused of scamming Yovany Baltazar-Cardenas, 27, according to police.

Baltazar-Cardenas was issued traffic citations in September and had a court date to deal with the tickets. Esquivel told her not to go to court because she was in the country illegally, police say.

Esquivel said he was a translator for the courts and that he would take care of the citations. He then gave the victim falsified court documents to make it appear as though the tickets had been adjudicated.

Baltazar didn’t appear in court as required and was arrested for failure to appear to the court summons.
