Marietta Man Killed in Wrong-Way Crash on 285

Police say Jacob Blackmore was heading west in the eastbound lanes of 285, and got into a wreck with a tractor-trailer heading east

A 19-year-old Marietta man was killed this morning in a fiery, wrong-way crash on I-285 in Dunwoody.

Jacob Blackmore, 19, was killed in an accident just after midnight, when, heading west in the eastbound lanes of 285, he hit a tractor-trailer in the middle lanes, police said. Both vehicles caught fire. The accident happened on I-285, near Ashford Dunwoody Road.

Blackmore was pronounced dead at the scene, Dunwoody Police Spokesman Sgt. Mike Carlson said. The truck driver, Rory Stewart, 57, was not injured.

The crash shut down parts of 285 through the morning rush hour until about 10:30 a.m.
