Man Charged with Attempted Kidnapping Arrested at Perimeter Mall

Gwinnett Police are charging a 37-year-old man with attempted kidnapping after making and comments and grabbing a 20-year-old woman in last Sunday's incident. The Indiana man was later arrested at Perimeter Mall for a disturbance at Perimeter Mall.

Last Sunday, a young Alpharetta woman shopping at the book store at was grabbed by a man who attempted to drag her from the store.

According to a Gwinnett Police report, the unidentified 20-year-old woman was in the magazine section of the store around 5 p.m. when a man grabbed her by the arm saying, "You're the one, come with me."

The woman began yelling for help and witnesses intervened and pushed the suspect away. The man then left driving a silver BMW with an Indiana license plate.

On Tuesday, the same suspect approached several women at , a store also located at The Forum, and "made explicit comments regarding having sexual relations with them." He was seen driving away in a silver BMW with an Indiana license plate.

Later that day the man approached a 25-year-old woman who was walking with three children near The Forum in the area of Wentworth Drive and E. Jones Bridge Road and the suspect pulled up next to the woman and tried to talk with her. She ignored him but he continued to follow. "The victim then looked at the suspect and saw him masturbating in his car." She then ran away with the children. The young woman told police the man was driving a light gray passenger car.

The suspect is Kennedy Miranda, 37. He is currently being held by Dunwoody Police who arrested him on June 19 at the Perimeter Mall for disorderly conduct and providing a false name.

During the investigation police learned that the vehicle was registered to Maximo Chavez, but the car's owner was not connected to any of the Gwinnett incidents. Police said Chavaz's name was used as an alias by the suspect.

Cpl. Jake Smith, spokesman for Gwinnett County Police said that Miranda will be charged (while in Dunwoody Police custody) with Criminal Attempt to Commit Kidnapping, Simple Battery and Public Indecency.

Gwinnett detectives are seeking the public's help in obtaining information regarding where Miranda was staying, who his friends and family are, and if there are any victims who have not come forward. Please call GCPD detectives at 770-513-5300.
