Dunwoody officers have had there hands full with burglary calls lately. One was foiled earlier this week by an alarm at Lakeside Drive.
Another recent incident turned out to be a false burglary report after a painter entered a residence through a window along Mt. Vernon in the Warnock Cottage area and was mistaken for a prowler. He had forgotten his key.
Midday Tuesday, officers responded to the real deal. Officers headed to an area reported as having suspicious people in the Wyntercreek subdivision on 5000 block of Meadowcreek Drive, police reported.
A residential burglary was in progress, according to the police report. The suspects fled on foot, however; they were quickly surrounded by officers and the detectives who were called to the crime scene, Dunwoody Police report.
Arrested in connection with the burglary were 23-year-old Damion Jones and Phillip Nwachukwu, 24, according to police.
It wasn't an easy arrest, police say. After a 30-minute pursuit of the suspects on foot they were taken into custody.
A neighbor called in the suspicious activity, Chatcomm dispatchers aided in directing officers in the pursuit, report Dunwoody Police.
The men were taken to DeKalb County Jail.Police are charging both suspects with burglary and theft by receiving a stolen auto. Jones is also being charged with posession tools for the commission of a crime. All are felonies, according to Dunwoody Police.
