Dunwoody Shooting: Neuman's Trial Reset for Feb. 13

Trial delayed after his attorneys announce intention to plea not guilty by reason of insanity

The trial of Hemy Neuman, delayed after his attorneys announced his plan to plead not guilty by reason of insanity, has been reset to start Feb. 13.

The trial had originally been set to start on Oct. 17, but Neuman’s attorneys made the announcement about plans for an insanity plea about a month before the trial was set to start.

Neuman is facing murder charges in the shooting death of Russell ‘Rusty’ Sneiderman outside of a Dunwoody day care last year on Nov. 18.

With the plea, Neuman’s attorneys have said, the issue is not what happened on the day of the shooting, but rather Neuman’s mental state when he committed the crime.

Judge Gregory Adams decided to move Neuman’s trial to allow a court-appointed expert to examine Neuman (the DeKalb County Attorney’s office filed a motion to have an expert examine Neuman, which was allowed).
