Dunwoody Police Put on the Handcuffs for Charity

Police will participate in Cuffed for a Cause Saturday at Wal-Mart

Several Dunwoody Police Officers and Police Chief Billy Grogan will get will be locked up in handcuffs Saturday.

But the bracelets are for a good cause – a fundraiser for Special Olympics Georgia.

In 'Cuffed for a Cause' the Chief and several officers will cuff themselves to a treadmill at the entrance to Saturday morning and walk or run to raise money for Special Olympics athletes. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The event will also serve as a chance to meet officers in the department, see some of the equipment police use in their daily duties and get photographs with Dunwoody Police officers.

The department hosts several events through the year for Special Olympics Georgia (SOGA), including the . SOGA provides year-round sports and athletic competition for nearly 23,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities, according to the department.Β
