Dunwoody Police Look for Suspect in Craigslist/iPad Robberies
Suspect responded to postings for iPad 2s, then stole them from victims when they met face to face
Police are looking for a man who apparently responded Craigslist ads to buy an iPad 2 and then robbed the sellers when they came to meet him. The incidents occurred three times in the last week, all outside of Wal-Mart in Dunwoody.
According to a release from the Dunwoody Police Department, last Saturday, on two different occasions, the suspect arranged to buy iPads from people who’d posted ads.
In the first occasion, around 1 p.m. Saturday, the victim showed up at Wal-Mart, met the suspect, who grabbed the iPad – worth $599 – from the victim and then fled on foot to a nearby apartment complex, police said.

In the second incident, around 4 p.m., the victim showed up at Wal-Mart and the suspect again grabbed the iPad 2s and fled to the nearby apartment complex. The victim gave chase, but the suspect stopped and pointed a gun at the victim, who stopped and went back to his vehicle and called 911, police said. According to the police report, the robber took two iPads, worth a total of nearly $1,700, in this incident.
The third incident happened on Tuesday around 8 p.m. The victim met the suspect at Wal-Mart and the suspect again grabbed the iPad 2 and fled to a nearby apartment complex. The victim, who was armed with a handgun, gave chase but lost the suspect in the parking lot, police said.

Police believe it may be the same person, or a group of people, doing these robberies.
The suspect was described in the last incident as a black male, 20 to 26 years old, 5’10” to 6’, 150 to 170 lbs., medium complexion, short hair cut, wearing a gold watch and a purple shirt, according to police. There was a similar description in the first two incidents. In the second incident, the suspect had his right hand taped up like a boxer.
