Dunwoody Police Chief Gives His Thoughts on Anthony Trial

Billy Grogan, on his blog, says there were many lessons learned in the case

There were many lessons learned in the Casey Anthony trial, ranging from power of the 'CSI Effect' to the difference between what is seen by the public and the jury.

In the posting, Grogan writes that the 'CSI Effect' gives people the idea that forensic evidence is almost everything in a case.

"In these complex cases, jurors tend to have more confidence in forensic evidence and less confidence in circumstantial evidence.Β  It just so happened in the Casey Anthony case, the circumstantial case was stronger than the forensic case," he writes."

Grogan concludes that the justice system has its flaws, but is still one of the best in the world.

"We have one of the best, if not the best, criminal justice systems of anyone. But it is far from perfect. Mistakes do happen Β A case such as this is extremely difficult, even in the best of circumstances. It is especially difficult when the circumstances of the case leave you with little real evidence. Please keep this in mind for all cases."
